Legend of the Week : Honda CRX

Seeing that it’s Good Friday and I’ll be partying it up over the easter weekend, I’ve decided to bring you our Legend of the Week a day earlier…coz it’s like Friday today…

Okay, so this week we’ll be discussing my favourite car of all time…the Honda CR-X! I love this car so so so so much and today I’ll be telling you exactly why.

The Honda CR-X was originally launched in Japan in 1984 as the Honda Ballade Sports CR-X, a nippy hatchback that was sold outside of Japan as the Honda CR-X. The name “CRX” and what its acronym stands for is widely disputed, the most popular being “Civic Renaissance model X”. It was first produced in 1984 and was a lightweight sport hatchback. In the American market, the CRX was marketed as an economy sport hatchback, having room for just two passengers. European markets, however, received a more powerful ZC 130 hp engine and 2+2 seats. Redesigned in 1987 and produced to 1991, the CRX was popular for its performance, nimble handling, and good fuel economy. In the US its performance model, the Si (note: 1590cc SOHC (D16A6) engined, unlike the JDM Si 1590cc (ZC) DOHC), was a favorite. Honda’s 1992 Del Sol was marketed as a CRX in some markets.

There are rumours of it’s return as a Honda Remix or as a hybrid, but Honda has released it’s CR-Z (Compact Renaissance Zero) at international motor shows.
